UEM Builders Berhad is the engineering and
construction flagship for the UEM Group. The year
2003 marked the beginning of a new era for the
Company it was acquired by UEM Group. Following the
completion of this corporate exercise of the UEM
Group, the Company assumed a new identity with the
name changed from Intria Berhad to UEM Builders
Berhad with effect from October 23, 2003. The change
of name moves along with the consolidation of the
UEM Group's engineering and construction businesses
under its wings.
The
group has a track record of five-year turnover from
engineering and construction activities in excess of
USD1.2 billion. Having built more than 1200 km of
expressways and highways at home and abroad,
constructed bridges, viaducts and stations for LRT
system, sports complexes, airport terminal,
hospitals and college campus to name a few, and with
shareholders' funds in excess of USD188 million, the
Group has the capability and financial resources
needed to undertake any infrastructure project. UEM
Builders has the experience of working with partners
to undertake more than 800 km of highways in India
exceeding USD250 million and is currently carrying
out projects in excess of USD300 million in Qatar.
The Group also provides infrastructure maintenance
and facilities management services and is
responsible for the management and operation of toll
collection for the Penang Bridge.
UEM Builders employs
over 2,000 committed employees at home and abroad
comprising technical professionals, engineering
specialists and support staff. The Group's
professionals comprise individuals from various
